New home being builtAs home owners are more concerned about energy costs, indoor air quality and green building techniques, properly insulating new residential construction is becoming a priority for contractors.
Our team has the expertise to install the right insulation for your project. By property insulating your new residential construction projects your customers can benefit from:
  • Monthly energy savings
  • Better indoor air quality
  • Moisture control
  • Superior sound control
  • Environmental satisfaction with the use of approved recyclable materials
  • A safe, healthy home environment

Installing quality insulation is only a fraction of the total cost of a home, and an investment that will pay your customers back beginning their first day in their new home.

We install residential spray foam insulation in attics, crawl spaces, basements and walls. There are several common types of insulation:
  • Fiberglass (batt and blow in forms)
  • Cellulose
  • Rigid foam board
  • Spray foam

When correctly installed, each type of insulation can deliver comfort and lower energy bills, especially during the hottest and coldest times of the year.

Spray Foam Insulation Blog

Spray Foam Insulation Blog

Spray foam insulation is a two-in-one product that insulates and air seals in one step. Foam expands when applied and completely fills a cavity to prevent air leaks and keep energy bills low.

Spray foam insulation reduces heat transfer between spaces in a home. Additionally, it seals air leaks to prevent conditioned inside air from escaping.

Types of Spray Foam Insulation

Spray Foam Insulation - Southland Insulators
Open cell spray foam along roof line
Open cell spray foam acts as an insulator and air barrier. The typical R-value of open cell foam insulation is 3.7 per inch. Other features of open cell foam insulation include vapor permeability, accommodation of seasonal movement, not a food source for mold, dampens sound and great for attic insulation.

Closed cell spray foam along roof line
Closed cell spray foam insulation works as an insulator and air barrier. The cells of the bubbles remain intact (closed), which makes the product rigid. The closed cell composition and increased density contribute to a higher R-value than open cell foam. This can contribute to building stability during storms and high winds.

Why does it matter?

Air leaks exist around the building envelope which is the outer layer of the home including exterior walls and rooflines. Air leaks occur through penetration points around areas such as recessed lights, plumbing stacks, electrical wires, attic hatches/doors and chimneys. When these air leaks are sealed, the conditioned air stays in your home. This results in your HVAC system working less, which keeps money in your pocket.

When installing spray foam insulation, the building cavity is insulated and air sealed in one pass, providing a thermal barrier and sealing of penetration points. With one application of spray foam, you are assured that air leaks are completely sealed.
