History and Philosophy:
Since our beginning in 1986, Southland Insulators has established an enviable reputation for quality and achievement in residential insulation. Southland was one of the first contractors to be accepted into the National Association of Home Builders, Research Center Certified Contractor program. In 1999, we were named “Contractor of the Year”, and became the first contractor to be selected two years in a row. We have done this by being focused on what we know: the insulation business. We are constantly working to stay ahead of the curve as energy conservation play an ever-important role in our customer’s homes.
We at Southland have never aspired to be the biggest insulation company, but due to industry consolidation, we have become the largest independent insulation contractor in the state of Virginia. While not striving to be the biggest, we do strive to be the best. We have established guidelines to ensure each one of our customers, from the individual purchasing a custom home to the large publicly traded homebuilder, receives the best possible information and service regarding the insulating of their home:
Quality: Working in conjunction with the highly respected National Association of Home Builders Research Center, Southland Insulators has been accepted into the Certified Contractor Program to ensure our installers provide top-notch workmanship.
Communication: You can expect fast response from our supervisory and sales personnel as they are all reachable through Nextel’s Builder’s Net.
Service: Our service fleet equipment is equipped with automatic vehicle location technology. This gives us the ability to know – in real time – the location of our trucks.

IARC RECLASSIFIES FORMALDEHYDE: Insulation Contractors Association of America’s Government Council Committee announced that on June 15th, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) reclassified formaldehyde as carcinogenic to humans. Based on studies of individuals exposed to high doses of formaldehyde causes a rare nasopharyngeal cancer in humans, limited evidence for cancer of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses and “strong but not sufficient evidence” for leukemia. The committee contends that the new classification does not affect the safety of fiberglass and rockwool insulation products. The complete report can be found at www.iarc.fr.

Southland Insulators recycles unused fiberglass in an effort to protect our environment. Fiber glass insulation uses a high percentage of recycled material which helps the environment by diverting materials from the solid waste stream. Fiber glass insulation manufacturers are the 2nd largest user of post-consumer recycled glass in the US. Since introducing its recycling program in 1992, the fiberglass insulation industry has recycled more than 8.4 billion pounds of glass. For more information please visit www.naima.org.
